Handmade shiratake shin chasen—a white bamboo matcha whisk—carefully finished in the shin shape. Its elegant curves and delicately shaved tines sit between the fine-usucha and the thicker-koicha styles, making it suitable for whipping a foamy usucha or kneading a rich koicha. After use, whisk in water or run under the tap, using fingers or a cloth to remove any stuck tea; avoid soap, which can damage porous bamboo. Stand the whisk upright in a kusenaoshi to maintain the tines’ shape and allow it to air dry thoroughly to prevent mold and preserve clarity of the tips.
